Separation Anxiety for Children
Spending time away from a young child can be difficult for everyone involved. Sometimes saying goodbye can create anxiety and confusion in a young child. Separation anxiety is most common in children under four years old. This class will introduce strategies for how to prepare for those detachment moments. Children who have experienced trauma or are transitioning from a divorce also need time to adjust. In addition, the class will explore separation anxiety for older children who are adjusting to a major life event such as a divorce or separation, adapting to a new step-parent, being part of a blended family, or a high-risk life event. All these examples can trigger anxiety when major family changes occur in a child’s life.
