CPI’s court-order supervised visitation program is currently not accepting any clients on our waitlist for private pay at this time.  For more information regarding our services, please contact Lizbeth Torres, Family Resource Center Manager at lizbetht@calparents.org or (707) 585-6108 x1107.

What is Supervised Visitation?

Supervised visitation allows parents to have parenting time with their children in a safe and neutral environment. Visits can help support the development of parenting skills and assist in rebuilding a healthy parent-child relationship.

Visits are supervised by trained visitation monitors who observe visits and can provide a report on the quality of the visits and visit activities. Monitors are also trained to provide parent coaching or to intervene during a visit if necessary. If more intensive parent training is required, the parent can receive Facilitated Supervised Visitation. These visits are provided by a trained CPI Parent Educator and include a full course of parent training. CPI's Supervised Visitation Program is a member of the Supervised Visitation Network.

How are Supervised Visits Scheduled?

Referrals may be made directly to Child Parent Institute (CPI) by contacting our Supervised Visitation Case Manager. An individual may also contact CPI directly to arrange visits. In order to be added to the waitlist, we must have a copy of any recent court orders and relevant documentation, as well as updated contact information. We will follow directions from the court orders regarding visitation permission and any orders for no contact. Once space becomes available, we will contact the next individual on the waitlist and begin our intake process. Our intake process includes scheduling separate appointments with both the custodial and non-custodial parents/caregivers and providing a visitation orientation for each. CPI cannot guarantee particular times for visits. Our program also limits visitation to no more than 2 hours at a time and typically to once or twice a week.

What Reports are Provided following Visitation?

Our visitation monitors will provide a written report form indicating time of visit, transition and visit activities and quality measures of parent interactions.  This report is available to both the custodial and non-custodial parent.

What is the Cost of Supervised Visitation?

A one-time intake fee of $100.00 will be collected to start the initial process. This includes interviews with both non-custodial and custodial parents.
